Electricity Supply Modelling

Step one is to assess the demand for power and the feasibility of the existing infrastructure to support your requirements, to ensure sufficient electrical supply at the site. Based on the project location and the volume of EV charging you expect, we can help you model and estimate your power needs across the network. E-merge will also manage any applications to, and communication with, the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) if a supply upgrade is required.

In addition, our modelling services will include scenario analyses to look at different demand growth curves in the future. EV sales are expected to continue to grow, so sufficient points today should be accompanied by additional electrical service and underground infrastructure to add capacity in in the future. We’ll put in a flexible solution that can accommodate changing demand over time, to support a desirable return on investment at every stage of development.

Space optimisation

As well as evaluating power requirements, E-merge will advise on site level planning, site selection and the management of available space. Specifically, this includes design services – including master specification documents – to address the location and proximity of  new electrical panels, remote power cabinets, conduit runs and the charging stations themselves. We’ll also take into account the types of vehicles you want to charge, access issues and chargepoint visibility (including lighting and signage) to ensure convenient and safe user flow.

Vehicle Types

The most desirable chargepoint configuration depends upon the type, or mix, of vehicles on a given site and how emphasis needs to be placed on speed and convenience. For most office blocks or retail premises for example, the focus will be on passenger vehicles and simply backing into a spot is the optimal setup.

For commercial vehicles, including buses or HGVs pull-through configurations for EV charging are more appropriate. Significant space is required and needs to be factored into the layout design, especially as additional space usually involves more cost. E-merge are here to help ensure efficiency.

Project Finance

EV can help you navigate both grant funding as well as introducing financing options through accredited lenders. Different projects may have many sources of available finance – and lenders often have different lending criteria. E-merge have considerable experience with willing lenders who recognise the long-term value of a well-designed EV chargepoint site.
